Pungent Stench: Masters of moral, servants of sin

Pungent Stench was always one of those band that I never really listened to but still knew that they would suck. I remember getting an LP from Nuclear Blast back when I was doing the fanzine, in the early 90’s. I might have listened to it for 10 seconds, never to discgace my record-player with it again. Well, now it´s 10 years later or something and I decided to give this new album a shot coz in 10 years alot of shit can happen. You learn (hopefully) how to play and how to write songs. Sometimes bands do, most times they don’t.
Pungent did. Maybe not to an extent where I´d trade my Jackson-guitars for a slot in the band, but it´s still a progression.
We are talking decent death metal with parts reminding me of Gorefest, Venom, Bolt Thrower and early Swedish death metal. There are worse bands and era´s to be influenced by methinks. The little I heard from these perverts before didn´t really have me expecting a killer-album now, and a killer-album it´s not. But there´s been alot more fuck-releases out as of late and I´ll pick Pungent over some of today´s bands.
I can´t really remember what they sounded like 10 years back except for the fact that it was shite, today they deal with midpaced, quite sludgy, death-stuff with some faster shit here and there. You know the concept.
This is not an album I´ll listen to a hella lot as I´m quite busy dominating, but for some decent death metal that won´t make you jerk off like Jeffrey Dahmer to a dead gay-corpse, but rather give you a 2 sec hard-on, this will do.
Nothing new under the sun but atleast they have aged for the better. Either way, they are nothing close to getting their logo inked on my forehead.
